I will admit to having a soft spot for these little bikes. The Kawasaki W650 is just so well engineered and such a pleasure to ride. Not only that, but they are incredibly versatile when it comes to building customs, chopper, bobber, scrambler, cafe racer; they all look fantastic. Case in point, this absolutely cracking roadster we helped our friend build. It’s been gently modified and tuned, a little lighter, a little faster and as per DDM ethos; a lot louder.
The bike was to be built in a Roadster style, part cafe, part standard but all fun. Small changes to change and improve the bike without being permanent or too drastic. Dropped bars, some classic bar-end mirrors cleaned up the front, a cleaner seat and smaller rear mudguard tidied up the rear end. Some slim Takagawa exhausts bring the noise and to really set off the simple colour scheme, the tank was repainted in a classic Kawasaki style from the 60’s but with a deep candy red.
Sometimes less is really more.
